Adding a Humanities Network Printer to Windows XP

Download the following instructions [PDF].

1. Click on Start button and select Printers and Faxes.

2. Click on Add a printer on the left side of the Printers and Faxes window.

3. Select the A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer and click Next>.

4. Select the Find a printer in the directory, and click Next>.

5. Type beginning of printer name in Name field and click Find Now button.

  1. Printer names take the form of Building Code Room Number.

    1. HH - Hagerty Hall
    2. UH - University Hall
    3. DU - Dulles Hall
    4. DE - Denney Hall
    5. ML - Mendenhall Lab
    6. OX - Oxley Hall
    7. ST - Ohio Stadium

  2. For example, the name of the printer in 386 University Hall starts with UH386..., the name of the printers in 455 Hagerty Hall starts with HH455..., etc.

  3. Keep in mind that users are only able to select printers for departments they are part of. So, someone associated with English cannot select a printer in the History department.

6. Select desired printer, and click OK button.

7. Select whether the printer should be the default printer, and click Next>.

8. Click Finish button when the Completing the Add Printer Wizard window appears.
